Cybermind

Here's my on-line community: Cybermind

Cybermind began as a discussion list in 1994 as a forum to explore the philosophy and psychology of cyberspace. It was initially co-moderated by Alan Sondheim and Michael Current and like any academic discussion list it began by trying to define itself, with some good exchanges and robust theory. Michael Current's death a few weeks after the list began led its members to explore feelings of loss. And by degree a new openness emerged that forged Cybermind into a community - still discussing the issues, but with a parallel track of lived experience. Initially archived in Hong Kong, the handover to the Peoples Republic of China placed the archives under threat from a less open and tolerant regime. So, under the auspices of the English Department at ANU, the archive was relocated to Australia.
