That and boulangeries &#8211; bakeries &#8211; home of the baguette that feeds a nation in precisely the way that burgers don&#8217;t in the USA.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image824\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/cafe1.jpg\" alt=\"Paris cafe\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Every corner has a surprise &#8211; whether a curiosity shop or the narrow cobbled streets<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image825\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/streetcorner.jpg\" alt=\"Paris corner\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or even a sign&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image826\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/electrique.jpg\" alt=\"Electric car sign\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But probably the thing I find most striking are the boulevards of art nouveau buildings throughout central Paris. And each has flower boxes bursting with colour from every balcony<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image827\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/nouveaubalconies.jpg\" alt=\"Paris art nouveau\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image828\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/balconyflowers.jpg\" alt=\"Paris art nouveau\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Even the doorways are striking for their flair<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image829\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/nouveauporch.jpg\" alt=\"Paris art nouveau\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And some places are just special &#8211; like this circus supplies shop in Montmartre called Bonjour Artiste<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image830\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/bonjourcircus.jpg\" alt=\"Paris circus shop\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Which is of course just below the great church of Sacre Coeur (Sacred heart)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image831\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/sacrecoeur2.jpg\" alt=\"Paris Sacre Coeur\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then from the sublime to&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image832\" src=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/moulnrouge1.jpg\" alt=\"Paris Moulin Rouge\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes it&#8217;s the 1927 copy of the Red Mill Theatre, made famous for spectacularly unclad dancers, the music of Jacques Offenbach, and more recently a film by Baz Luhrmann starring Australian Actress Nicole Kidman. Interestingly, severl of the dancers are Australian!
