{"id":341,"date":"2006-10-02T22:40:19","date_gmt":"2006-10-02T12:40:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/?p=341"},"modified":"2006-10-09T01:05:21","modified_gmt":"2006-10-08T15:05:21","slug":"canberra-floriade-2006","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/?p=341","title":{"rendered":"Canberra Floriade 2006"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tulips are in full bloom at Floriade &#8211; Canberra&#8217;s flower festival &#8211; and with a sunny long weekend it seemed a perfect day to check  it out.<\/p>\n<p><img ID=\"image339\" SRC=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/tulip06.jpg\" ALT=\"tulip 2006\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Well, the flowers are wonderful and the record crowds seem to agree, despite the sun being just a bit too intense (can they turn it down a bit?) and the cars parking in the dirt were kicking up a fair bit of dust. <\/p>\n<p>The flower beds are arranged in contrasting colours and heights and stretch off into the distance in Commonwealth Park between the lake and Stage-88. <\/p>\n<p><img ID=\"image340\" SRC=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/floriade06.jpg\" ALT=\"floriade06\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And with a carnival theme the balloon benders and street performers delighted the kids and adults alike with their skills.<\/p>\n<p><img ID=\"image343\" SRC=\"http:\/\/lostbiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/floriade%20balloon%20bender.jpg\" ALT=\"floriade balloon bender\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a pleasant walk back over Commonwealth Bridge, we headed to the Pancake Parlour for a short stack of pancakes and iced coffees. And there I found that the place had a free wifi access point &#8211; so I just had to do some quick photo edits on the iPaq and upload a quick blog entry!
